Terms of Service
Last updated: March 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Lonia Hospital platform (“Platform”), including our website at loniahospital.com, the telemedicine portal at lonia.ng, mobile applications, and related services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Platform.
Lonia Hospital (“Lonia”, “we”, “us”, “our”) operates the Platform, which connects patients with licensed healthcare professionals, pharmacies, and home healthcare providers in Nigeria.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Minors may use the Platform under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
- You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- Healthcare providers must hold valid licences issued by the relevant Nigerian regulatory body (e.g., MDCN, PCN, NMCN, TRCN).
3. Services Provided
The Platform facilitates the following services:
- Video consultations with licensed doctors, specialists, and therapists.
- Online pharmacy for ordering and delivering medications via our delivery partner, Pharmarun.
- Home healthcare services provided by qualified nurses and health workers.
- Lab test booking and result delivery (when available).
- Corporate healthcare plans for organisations covering employee healthcare needs.
Lonia is a technology platform — we are not a healthcare provider. The healthcare professionals on the Platform are independent practitioners responsible for their own clinical decisions.
4. Payments & Refunds
All payments are processed through Paystack, a PCI DSS-compliant payment processor. By making a payment, you agree to Paystack's terms of service.
- All prices are displayed in Nigerian Naira (NGN) and include applicable fees.
- Consultation fees are charged at the time of booking. The fee is held in escrow and released to the healthcare provider after the consultation is completed.
- Medication orders include a delivery fee. Once an order is confirmed by the pharmacy partner, it cannot be cancelled.
- Refunds for cancelled consultations (before they start) are processed within 5–7 business days.
- Refunds for disputed or unsatisfactory services are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact support at hello@lonia.ng.
5. Patient Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and truthful health information to your healthcare provider.
- Attend scheduled consultations on time. No-shows may result in forfeiture of the consultation fee.
- Do not use the Platform for medical emergencies. Call 112 (Nigeria Emergency Number) or visit the nearest hospital.
- Follow medication instructions as prescribed. The “Consult recommended” label on certain medications is advisory — you are responsible for consulting a doctor when appropriate.
- Do not share your account with others or use another person's account.
6. Healthcare Provider Responsibilities
- Maintain valid professional licences and certifications as required by Nigerian law.
- Provide care consistent with accepted medical standards and practices.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR).
- Be available during your declared availability hours and attend scheduled appointments.
- Report any adverse events or safety concerns to Lonia immediately.
7. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of Nigerian law.
- Impersonate a healthcare professional or misrepresent your qualifications.
- Harass, abuse, or threaten other users or healthcare providers.
- Attempt to access other users' accounts, data, or protected areas of the Platform.
- Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Platform.
- Share, resell, or redistribute prescriptions or medications obtained through the Platform.
8. Intellectual Property
All content on the Platform, including text, graphics, logos, software, and design, is owned by Lonia Hospital or its licensors and is protected by Nigerian and international copyright laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Nigerian law:
- Lonia is not liable for the clinical decisions, diagnoses, or treatments provided by healthcare professionals on the Platform.
- Lonia is not liable for delays in medication delivery caused by our delivery partners.
- Lonia shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform.
- Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or pose a risk to the safety of other users. You may delete your account at any time through the app or by contacting us at hello@lonia.ng.
11. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved through negotiation first. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to arbitration in Lagos, Nigeria, under the Arbitration and Mediation Act 2023. The language of arbitration shall be English.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will notify registered users of material changes via email or in-app notification.
